How To Choose Your Best Slow Cooker ?
Here are some of my personal tips to help you to choose your best slow cooker.
1. Slow Cooker Size
Slow cooker is measure by Quarts (qt). In the metric system, one quart is approximately 1 liter of liquid. If you have no more than 2 people in your household, the 3 to 4 qt. size is ideal. I chose a 7-quart slow cooker because I have a family of five and a large slow cooker fits my needs.

2. Slow Cooker Shape & Design
The shape of your slow cooker will help determine your decision as well. My personal opinion is that oval slow cookers are better than the round ones or straight edges because you can actually cook whole birds of chicken in them. Imagine making roast chicken in your slow cooker? Yum:) One thing to note here also, oval and rounded edges tend to be easier to clean than square edges with awkward, hard-to-reach crevices.
Besides that, check out the other parts of a slow cooker’s anatomy. Are the handles sturdy? Is the lid see-through? That’s very important, so you can check on your food without lifting the lid and causing moisture to escape.
If you’re very busy, which most of us are, make sure that your new slow cooker is easy to clean too! Choose a slow cooker that have a removable crock and allow for much easier refrigeration of foods before and after cooking is a big plus here too. You can find most of my best slow cookers recommendation will need this shape and design requirement.
3. Feature & Settings
The main reason for buying a slow cooker is to have the ability to cook great-tasting food unattended for long hours. Therefore, the settings of your slow cooker are paramount.
Check out the timer. Is it digital or analog? Digital is generally more accurate. What about temperature settings? It should have at least three, low, medium and high.
Ask about a keep warm mode. Keep warm mode keeps your food warm even after you have finished cooking it. Settings are important. The basic slow cooker should have at least those, and the more advanced (and expensive) ones might even be programmable with manual modes for optimum food quality.

Why Slow Cooker?
Every day, my wife and I ponder over what to feed our 3 kids come dinnertime. Ever since she started working again, we have had to think of how to provide a good, nutritious meal to our kids while still being able to balance our work responsibilities.
As I thought about it more and more, I decided to use my trusty slow cooker for a great-tasting solution! Not only are slow cookers wonderful at cooking on a budget and for long periods of time, they make for easy food preparation and easy clean up after.
This solution totally fits into our busy schedules. Before I leave to my restaurant and she goes to work, we decide on the day’s meal and put our trusty slow cooker to use. By the time she comes home for dinner with the kids in tow, they have a great meal to look forward to. Not to mention, she can keep the leftovers warm so I can share in the fun when I come home too!
